Gurez, Mar 31 (KNO): A major avalanche struck the Tulail area of Gurez in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Tuesday, officials said. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that teams from the administration rushed to the site near the Kishanganga River, close to the Line of Control (LoC), soon after receiving information about the incident. He said no loss of life or damage to property has been reported so far. “Teams have been deployed to assess the situation, while the administration has issued an avalanche advisory for residents of Gurez and Tulail, urging them to remain alert,” he said. The Bandipora–Gurez road remains closed due to snow accumulation and clearance operations are underway, officials said. Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKUTDMA) said avalanches with a low danger level are likely above 2,400 metres in Bandipora district over the next 24 hours.—(KNO)
